Truth & Love

I'm obsessed with Graphic Tee's right now. They are really cute in the summer with some cut off's but great in the colder months too. I like to wear them with a cardigan or a blazer over top. It gives me an excuse to wear my favourite blazers on the weekend without looking too dressy.

Loving this relaxed fit Graphic Tee find. It was cold outside so I threw on my new infinity scarf. I love the purple colour tones in it! (ps. look below for two more tee's on my want list!)

Can't wait to meet you, neighbour.

I've been seeing a lot of commercials for Target coming to Canada and I can't wait!

I follow at lot of blogs from ladies in America and I'm often so jealous of their great Target finds!

If your budget doesn't allow for your wardrobe to be completely designer or high end clothes, it's a good idea to mix one high quality piece with something more budget friendly. I've grown my closet by doing this and it never seems to fail that the cheaper thing I'm wearing gets the compliment or the "where did you get that?! I want it!". As long as it fits you well and suits your style, you can wear low priced outfits and make it fashionable.

Stores like TargetWalmart & Joe Fresh  do their own inexpensive versions of current trends. Just like these wedge shoes from Target. If you’re not able toget the Isabel Marant version (here), you would still be on trend rocking these:

Here are some other affordable pieces from Target that I'll be looking for as soon as it hits its neighbour to the North!

Lace Overlay Top, Pencil Skirt, Mint Green Blouse, Black A-line Skirt, Blazer, Pumps

Studded Purple Sweater, Polka Dot Baseball Top, Chevron Print Skirt, Maxi Skirt, Gaphic Tee, Peplum Blouse, Gold Flats

Tulip Skirt, Sandals, Red & Grey Dress, Polka Dot Tank, Wedges, Stripe Maxi Dress, Geometric
Bikini, Floral Dress

Soon!

The Oscar for most glamorous goes to....

I'm dragging my feet a little today because I made it until the very end of the Oscars last night. When I was little I dreamed of being an actress and by grade one I was already practicing my acceptance speech. While those dreams did not lead me to the Academy’s, they did lead me to years of studying theatre and television and ultimately- with a love for all things glamorous! Now that I'm a grown up, I dream more about the amazing dresses than the acceptance speeches. Here were my favourites from last night:

(my categories are completely random and based solely on what I thought stood out!)

Best overall dress: Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture

The colour is beautifully feminine, the draping necklace was fashion forward and classic at the same time. The best part of all- the timeless Dior lines and shapes the dress creates. It looks phenomenal on Jennifer Lawrence.

You know you have a simple elegance about yourself when you make falling look beautiful!

Best Colour: Jennifer Garner in Gucci

Purple has always been my favourite colour. This shade is gorgeous and looked beautiful with Jennifer Garners hair colour and skin tone - I'm now on the hunt for a blouse this colour!

The only part of this outfit that I didn't like was her necklace. The back of the dress was a statement piece on it's own so I think something more simple wouldn't take away from the ruffles.

Best Beading: Halle Berry in Versace

Beading details are a popular trend on and off red carpets right now and Halle Berry nailed it. On a totally unrealted note, I think she should be nominated for the most stunning woman over 40. She is 46 years old, has not aged a bit and has the figure of someone in their 20's. She absolutely stunning and this dress  accentuates her amazing features. I love that it had so much elaborate beading and details but isn't over the top and in many ways is classic looking.

My uncle Marcel was a well known fashion designer in London during the 1980's (more on him in another post!). Halle's dress slightly (very slightly) reminded me of some of his old designs  - here

Best Dressed Date: Stacey Keibler in Naeem Khan

Stacey Keibler showed off her amazing figure in this perfectly fitted dress. I love the tones of silver and grey. The lines of the dress accentuate her waist and hips perfectly and the back of the dress is almost more fantastic than the front. The combination of her hairstyle and the beading makes her look like she's just stepped off the stairs at a Gatsby house party. Beautiful.
Funny fact: Stacey use to be a professional wrestler and one of her ring nicknames was Super Stacey in which she wore a super hero costume - personally, I think she's better off making appearances in this outfit:

Least Favourite Dress: Anne Hathaway in Prada

I thought her hair and makeup were flawless, her acceptance speech was composed and beautifully spoken but why on earth she would pick something that gives a fake "nipple reveal" for such an important night is beyond me. Besdies the awkward dress detail, I also thought her necklace was an odd choice for the high neck line of the dress.

There's my thoughts on the 2013 Oscar dresses! Can't wait to look through photo's of what everyone wore to the Vanity Fair after party - they are usually equally as glamourous!

A leopard does not change his spots

I've always been a lover of leopard. It started when I was 10 years old and my mom came home with a brand new dark leopard fur winter jacket. It was the perfect addition to her bright red lipstick and big hair. While I can't resist a great leopard piece, I try to be careful picking the style of print to make sure it doesn't look too tacky or too cheap. Check out the links below for other classy leopard selections I'm eyeing.
