(my categories are completely random
and based solely on what I thought stood out!)
Best overall dress: Jennifer Lawrence
in Dior Haute Couture
The colour is beautifully feminine,
the draping necklace was fashion forward and classic at the same time. The
best part of all- the timeless Dior lines and shapes the dress creates. It looks phenomenal
on Jennifer Lawrence.
You know you have a simple elegance about yourself when you make falling look beautiful!
Best Colour: Jennifer Garner in Gucci
Purple has always been my favourite colour. This shade is gorgeous and looked beautiful with Jennifer Garners hair colour and skin tone - I'm now on the hunt for a blouse this colour! The only part of this outfit that I didn't like was her necklace. The back of the dress was a statement piece on it's own so I think something more simple wouldn't take away from the ruffles.
Best Beading: Halle Berry in Versace
Beading details are a popular trend on and off red carpets right now and Halle Berry nailed it. On a totally unrealted note, I think she should be nominated for the most stunning woman over 40. She is 46 years old, has not aged a bit and has the figure of someone in their 20's. She absolutely stunning and this dress accentuates her amazing features. I love that it had so much elaborate beading and details but isn't over the top and in many ways is classic looking.
My uncle Marcel was a well known fashion designer in London during the 1980's (more on him in another post!). Halle's dress slightly
(very slightly) reminded me of some of his old designs - here
Best Dressed Date: Stacey Keibler in Naeem Khan
Stacey Keibler showed off her amazing figure in this perfectly fitted dress. I love the tones of silver and grey. The lines of the dress accentuate her waist and hips perfectly and the back of the dress is almost more fantastic than the front. The combination of her hairstyle and the beading makes her look like she's just stepped off the stairs at a Gatsby house party. Beautiful.
Least Favourite Dress: Anne Hathaway in Prada
I thought her hair and makeup were flawless, her acceptance speech
was composed and beautifully spoken but why on earth she would pick something that
gives a fake "nipple reveal" for such an important night is beyond me. Besdies the awkward dress detail, I also thought her necklace was an odd choice for the
high neck line of the dress.
There's my thoughts on the 2013 Oscar dresses! Can't wait to look through photo's of what everyone wore to the Vanity Fair after party - they are usually equally as glamourous!
