On Friday I drove two hours north of the city to Collingwood (a ski resort town). Now that I'm a mom and work in a busy downtown core, I really appreciate a quite drive all to myself. I also appreciate a loud drive as I blare stuff Matt’s not too excited to listen to (read: singing some T Swift & "Since you've been gone" at full volume).
It was a beautiful drive up.
On Friday night it was just the bride, her mom, the bridesmaids & the grooms mom and grandma (she is seriously the coolest grandma!). We played some silly bachelorette games that left us crying from laughing. Games that included a blind fold, spinning, planting a kiss on a blow up doll (who we reffered to as Stud Muffin or Mr.S Muffin by the end of the weekend). That fact that both moms got in on the fun was a hoot. We stayed at one of the bridesmaids amazing 7 bedroom ski chalet. She had just gotten married there a few weeks ago and when we discovered her hair extensions from the big day we decided, naturally, to make the brides mom wear them. Since there wasn't quite enough to avoid the billy ray mullet, she donned the nickname trailer Trish for the rest of the night.
On Saturday we woke
up and headed to the spa. Scandinave is an outdoor waters spa. You dip
into VERY cold water and then relax in the warm waters. There is also a eucalyptus
sauna. and a fire pit with Muskoka chairs to dry off. It was pretty relaxing. Since it's suppose to be tranquil they have professional
ssshhhhers there to shush anyone who is being too loud. We were shushed 6 times
and had a little "talking to about our volume". There is something about a bunch of girls being
forced to be quiet that made us all giddy and chatty and well...not so
tranquil. We also had a walk around the ski village to visit cute shops. One of
which was an all year Christmas store. I can't get enough of all year Christmas
stores!
Once
Saturday evening rolled around we were ready for a BBQ (sitting in spa pools
sure do build an appetite!) and a girls night out at the village. We dressed in
neon head to toe and made the bride wear a white dress with neon accessories.
There were a lot of other bachelorette parties at the bar but none as bright
(or loud) as us. The poutine stand was hit on the way back tot eh chalet which was a great
ending to a fun weekend with one of my best friends and some newly made friends
too. One of the bridesmaids created a hash tag for the event. This seems to be popular for weddings and parties and it's a great way to share photo's and
instagram the night away together. So on that note, #jessbach.
On Sunday I rolled out (literally) early because I had to pick up Holden and Matt and head to the cystic fibrosis charity walk my dad was hosting. It's not often Holden, Matt and I spend a weekend apart. It made my heart swell to see how excited they were when I got home. I was so happy to see them that it motivated me to get through the day despite the major lack of sleep I was running on.
It was a beautiful drive home, to my beautiful little family. A great weekend overall.
