Since Holden was coming back on Saturday from a wonderful March break week away at his grandparents house, Matt and I decided to make our last night, a nice date night.
We had dinner at one of my favourite Italian Restaurants in the city Trattoria Nervosa. When you're sitting in the small restaurant and
looking out the window you can almost pretend you’re in a little cafe
somewhere in Italy or Paris. They have the sweetest little rooftop patio in the summer too! The food is amazing - I had a simple pasta
dish with goat cheese, sundried tomatoes and house made Gluten Free pasta - Delish!
After
dinner we grabbed drinks at our favourite little Parisian style bar La Palette
(can you tell we're itching for a trip to Europe!). There is something nice
about having a regular place you go to when you live in a big city. I had my
new favourite drink - champagne, elderberry liquor with little elderberries that move around the glass with the champagne bubbles.
There's something so romantic about quiet time together when you don't have a night out alone very often. We can't wait to get our little Holden back but we had a great week full of dates and uninterrupted conversations about life and love and wild plans for the future. When Matt went to pay the bar tab he was explaining to the owner, who had been serving us for the evening, how we try to come every couple of months for a date night to this bar. The owner was surprised to learn that we have been married 5 years and have a little guy. He said we had an err about us that seemed like fresh new love! It was sweet to hear and made for the perfect end to a perfect night.
Then this little man came home and cuddles ensued:)
